You can get great pics of Downtown L.A. from Elysian Park next to Dodger Stadium. It's a jewel.

Pasadena City Hall on Garfield just n of Union (spectacular)

Queen Mary, Long Beach. Best way to take a pic of it is from the ocean side from a water tour ($10)

Colorado St Bridge, Pasadena, spot in the vicinity of W Walnut and N Orange Grove (almost to the Rose Bowl)

Great pics of the Griffith Park Observatory can be had around Kenmore and Hollywood Blvd if you have a decent zoom

Santa Monica Pier...again, go at dusk, the neon from the rides all turns on and with the sunset...very pretty.

Have someone take a pic of you in the lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (almost across from the Chinese Theatre). It's a gorgeous Moorish style.

Hollywood Forever Cemetary. Look at the website before and then go take pics of celebs headstones and grandiose monuments. Valentino is in the mausoleum at the southeast corner.

Just south (on the other side of the fence) is the entrance gate of Paramount. It faces Melrose. Think Norma Desmond driving through in her Isotta Franchini in Sunset Boulevard

Speaking of that movie, the apartment building in it called the Alto Nido sits on a hill on Ivar next to the Hollywood Freeway.

Chateau Marmont 8221 Sunset Blvd. Lindsay Lohan threw up there. Britney is banned. John Bulushi died there in bungalow #2. Jim Morrison liked to stay there. Old time movie stars used to live there. Marylin was there for a while. The place is an amazing looking French Normandy high rise.
